Using trained volunteer coaches, Girls on the Run Long Island delivers a national curriculum to promote physical, mental, social and spiritual health outcomes for the prevention of unhealthy and risky outcomes.

The Girls on the Run International curriculum includes conversation-based running games and three lesson parts: understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork, and understanding how we can shape the world. We use running to teach confidence, connection, and other qualities. We like running because of its simplicity, we can do it as a group, and achieve a goal within the time we have.

Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based positive youth development program designed to develop and enhance girls’ social, psychological, and physical competencies to successfully navigate life experiences.

Over the course of the program girls will develop and improve competence, feel confidence in who they are, develop strength of character, respond to others and oneself with care and compassion, create positive connections with peers and adults, and make a meaningful contribution to community and society with a service project.
